Hi there,
I am Australian citizen, working in USA on temp visa (3 years - exp. in Jan 08). I work in IT - 5 years of exp.
I checked few web sites and forums and it looks like normal application process for Skilled workers can take up to 2 years.
Is it possible to go to Canada on tourist visa (which I do not need), apply for work while there and then apply for work permit? Possibly extend this to PR etc.
Thanks for your time,

Tsveta

Hi,

In almost all cases, you must have a valid work permit to work in Canada.
For more information you can visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada web site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.html

You can legally work in Canada if you have a work permit or if you are an immigrant: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/index.html
Depending on how busy the embassy in your region is this may take from 1-4 years.

Are you thinking of applying from Buffalo?
