Has anyone gotten an job with an unrelated credentials? ie: does employer care about your other credentials (not relate to the job you are applying for?)

I'm not sure what exactly do you mean? Are you talking about references/experience from jobs in a different industry?

I believe you mean, like has a welder ever gotten a job as a baker kind of thing? Anyone who has ever changed carreers would have done so. I'm looking to do so myself. Basically they look at you as someone with no experience.

Actually, I've seen it happen several times - including twice to me:D

It generally happens in three cases:

1. The Job is a 'starter position' - which means the hiring manager may not care too much - This is the easiest way to switch careers.

2. The Job is hard to fill - for instance when it requires re-location to an unattractive location.

3. Occasionally, the hiring manager is inexperienced or indifferent. When this happens in senior positions I usually become wary of the way the organization is being run.
