Hey everyone,

New member to the forum...wondering if anyone has any advice. I have beensending resumes (15 now I believe) and have not received any responses. I am a Journeyman Welder Red Seal-- seeking FT employment in camp jobs....preferably Northern Ablerta-- maybe oil sands/oil rigs...

Appreciate any comments or feedback!

Thankx!

Tyler:)

Welcome to the forum. Have you tried contacting a recruitment agency? If you are having trouble finding a job you may want to give it a try. Also, how's your resume? Ask someone to proof read it for you and see if there's room for improvement.

Also, let the numbers work for you, although 15 resumes sounds like a lot, you could send a lot more. A month before I graduated from college I sent 152 resumes out. The phone was ringing off the wall. Some say its extreme, it was a small price to pay to get a full time job by the time I graduated. After all, paper and stamps are pretty cheap; 1st pay cheque more than pays for it. Good luck!

Hi,
I would suggest you to contact recruitment agencies (http://jobagencies.ca/index.asp?p=1&sp=1).
You may also find helpful this job article - How to sell yourself on the job market (http://jobagencies.ca/default.aspx?article=How+to+sell+yourself+on+the+j ob+market+)
There is a list of companies in Alberta that are in the oil & gas industry (http://jobforum.ca/showthread.php?t=964)
You may contact those companies directly and don’t be afraid to call them. Establishing personal contact is very important for your job search.
