Hi, newbie here,

I am a Mexican living in Mexico.
I want to work in Canada as an electrical engineer, or other position to start with.
I've applied to many, many job ads and to recruiters with no replies, none.
I know of the skills shortage and thought employers would be jumping at my resume, naive me.
Wanting advice as to how to get noticed...and hired.
Anyone know of which companies are willing to hire foreigners from abroad?
I know that there is more work involved with the work permit etc., but apparently the Can. gov't has made this process quicker and simpler.
Has any one had success finding work from abroad via the internet or phone?

Thanks!
Lorenzin

Hi, there is this PNP program: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/provnom/index.html
This program has made it simpler for the provinces to consider application based on their needs. However I am not aware of any companies in your field which are hiring foreigners.
You can try to contact such companies directly through their HR divisions. They may be able to give you more information.

You may be able to get help from a professional association. They can help with getting your credentials as an Electrical Engineer recognized in Canada and also offer you certification. Try contacting an association in the province you are looking to work in. In Ontario for example, you could check with the PEO or OACETT. PEO certifies Engineers and OACETT certifies Engineering Technologists and Technicians.

PEO Website http://www.peo.on.ca
OACETT Website http://oacett.org
