Hi I was recently temporarily laid off. The company said they have all intentions of bringing me back in a couple weeks. However, I never really liked the position very much anyways (no job appreciation, 44 hour work weeks, etc) and want to take this opportunity to see what else is out there.

Now the question I have is how do I list a temporary layoff on my resume? Would I put StartDate - End date so like June 2006 - March 2007? Or since it is just a temporary layoff, would I have it listed as June 2006 - Present?
On my record of employment it has expected return date as unknown.
Thank you

Hi, you can do both, there is not much difference. It is said to be easier to find a job while still working so you can just leave it June 2006 - Present.

What do you do? What kind of job are you looking for? A list of employment agencies (http://jobagencies.ca/index.asp?p=1&sp=1) maybe helpful in your job hunt.

I am actually a recent graduate from a community college. I graduated last August from a Computer Programmer/Analyst course, and was employed from Sept - a couple weeks ago. I was an IT specialist at my last position (but mainly did software development)
I'm finding it extremely difficult finding a programmer/software development position. Most of them want over 3 years experience, or if its a recent grad position, they want a University degree (I apply to them anyways, but no responses).
Also I live near Kitchener, Ontario
Guess I may have to try and get in something else....

It is not very easy to find a job with little or no experience. You should look for entry level positions. Kitchener and Waterloo are great places to start. Do you look for a job in the GTA?

Hi, are you willing to relocate?
I hear that Barrie is fast growing city. Try to look for job there. Do not limit your job search. Try the GTA also. If you are willing to travel you can use the GO train or you can relocate…
