Hi there,
I was wondering what do you guys think; can you live on a minimum wage? Do you think someone can survive on a minimum wage? I certainly don't think so but I was curious to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Tnx

Hi bongi,
Depends on where you live. If there are 2 adults in the household with minimum wage you can pay your rent but will get not much left for all the other expenses. Again it depends in which province you live and in which city. Also you don't pay taxes on minimum wage and may qualify for welfare. It is difficult to say.

In my opinion you can't live on minimum wage. Maybe if you live in your mom's basement....

It is very subjective. How much do you spend per month....
In general I don't think you can survive on minimum wage. You need to have at least 2 jobs...

You would be working like and leading a boring life if you have to pay rent and where working for mini wage... If its less then 10$ dont I wouldnt waste my time.

Hi all, thanks for your honest opinion. I was asking because there are so many people living on the bare minimum, people without qualifications, newcomers... I was just curious of what you think.

No, I don't think so. There are too many costs in today's world and prices are always rising. Minimum wage has always been too low.

They have to try and restructure minium wage, When working for federal government places They should use the lico line as minium wage structure. Low Income cutoff, Untill someone puts forth a challange that changes the laws, They will just pay hourly minuim wage standards. Thats all the employer has to pay unless there is a collective barganing agreement.
