I am a Mexican citizen who moved to Canada to get married to my boyfriend, who I met in Mexico. He is a Canadian citizen. We have a daughter who is also a Canadian citizen. I have not received the marriage certificate from the Canadian Government, but as my husband needs help with the home expenses, I searched and obtained a job. Now my employer is asking when my papers are to be ready, but I have not received even the marriage certificate to apply for landed immigrant status. Can I obtain a temporary work permit to continue working while I wait for my landed immigrant status?

Thank you

I think you can but I am not 100% sure. Call Canada Citizenship and Immigration and explain the situation. They have to speed up your application!
Also they may be able to give you the best advice what to do.

You better try to call them. A reply through email can take weeks....
You can also consult with Immigration lawyer (http://www.getlawyer.ca/ontario--lawyers/). They know all the loopholes :)

Definitely call them, and don't call them once. You need your papers in a rush and they have to send it to you asap. I remember how many times I called to ask for the birth certificate for my son. It took them more than 6 months to send it to me because they were swamped!!!! Well I need it because I had to travel I had to get a passport for him. I called I don't remember how many times but finally they put a rush on it. So my advice will be to call again and again.
