Does anyone know an agency named Barley Smith International (or something that sounds like it)? I'm not sure of the spelling of the name. They said they have offices in Canada, US & UK.

Hi, Never heard of them. Do they have a web site? I searched google but only found a message that they are recruiting company specializing in construction industry and engineering. No web site though - this is strange. Check out JobAgencies Canada ( more info.

Hi Tsveta,

I was actually looking for their website too. Can you tell me the site you found? Haven't found them in the list of agencies you provided. Please help.

I only found a message posted on some job board that they recruit people from Asia and Eastern Europe. Their contact info is in Cote D'Ivoire...
Sorry I couldn't help.

hi, here again,

i tried calling the written info on site at london directory. I heard same voices in different locations written: abidjan and london. I inquired also regarding this matter from a source and this is their reply:

First of all, Cote d'Ivoire has an extremely high incidence of online scams,
just like Nigeria. Basically any email contact from Cote d'Ivoire and
Nigeria should be assumed to be a scam until you can prove otherwise, it's
really that bad.

Nothing about this offer makes sense. First of all, neither the UK nor
Canada hand out work visas that easily to unskilled foreign workers. In the
UK if you're a citizen of an EU country it's straightforward, but not really
from other countries.

It does not make sense to run a recruitment agency for the UK or Canada from
outside these countries, particularly from a francophone country in Africa
that is not even a Commonwealth member. "Barley Smith International Ltd" is
not a name you'd find in a francophone country, where limited companies are
marked "SA" or "SARL", not Ltd.

The "UK office" uses a +44 70 number, which in reality is a redirection
service that can forward calls to any phone worldwide. It's usually used in
scams where a scammer in Africa wants to pretend he's working for a UK
business. In the UK you don't generally find someone in business using the
title Reverend, this is typical for West African scams. A Yahoo Canada email
address for a UK office?

This is a total scam, nothing checks out.

Best regards

Joe Wein

hope this helps and confront an agency and ask help from poea about this matter.

Thanks Chinmayii....

I just read your reply and I appreciate your comments. It is so hard now to trust anybody especially when their offer is too good to be true. We had an experience with the subject agency and they were asking a lot of money and making a lot of promises. Their scams really have to stop because they are ruining a lot of dreams......again, thanks...
