Being yourself at an interview

Alot of people I know put on an "act" in a job interview.
They are afraid to be themself.

Personally, I think its best to be yourself. I tend to answer questions with what is on my mind, not what I think the employer wants to hear.

I have never had a problem getting a job this way, so I guess I am doing something right! :)

It's nice to be yourself, but at the same time we all know what an interviewer wants to hear, and it's difficult not to give them what they want, if you really want the job.

Some interviewers are very relaxed, and i find its easier to be natural with those ones.

Definately. It really depends on the interviewer. If you run into one of the type that seems all straight necked and the kind of person you could see looking over everyone and handing out pink slips, it's harder to be yourself. A lot of good employers will be able to spot your honesty and your ability to communicate under pressure and see that as a good trait.

I think being yourself is the only way to approach an interview. Who else are you going to be? ;) But seriously, being yourself will portray whether you are a good fit for the organization. Remember you are interviewing the company as well as them interviewing you. There is a chance that you will realize that this job is not for you.

I've been to a lot of job interviews and I can tell you-Sometimes you don't like the people interviewing you, or you don't like the company, or it doesn't meet your expectations. You thought they needed a graphic designer but it turns out they needed somebody to do their pre-press work... It won't hurt to go to as many interviews as you can. It gives you experience and confidence.

It’s a lot easier being yourself and so it would be less likely that you would make a mistake. Trying to be somebody else could maybe even make you seem inconsistent to an interviewer.

Hmm depends on the job :)
If you are doing sales or something then yes you need that sort of demenour.
I guess my jobs are sort of "back room" jobs :)
