How many job interviews have you had in your life?
I know some people have only had one or two, while some of us get a new job every year.

I think people who have had more interviews are the ones who are generally better at it.

Practice makes perfect :)

I've been to so many interviews I can't remember how many now .... Of course if you are a contractor like I am you'll have to look for a job at least twice a year. I must say that I don't feel anxious now when I have an interview, I'm so used to it; the interviews are all the same.

Very interesting thread.
I am very nervous when I go to an interview. I don't know why I just can't eat and my stomach is in a knot. I am the same when I have a test. I try to remind myself that it is not the last job on Earth but it's not helping much.
Any thoughts?

It depends. I have had contracts running for more than 3 years, but I admit this is more of an exception.

All the same? Wow, lucky you!
Every single interview I go to is different, even if it is in the same line of work.

I wish they were all the same.. then I could memorise the questions :)

To answer the thread question, I've had over 50 interviews in my working life (7 years)

I've had a lot of interviews in my life, can't tell a number but in my experience the employers want to hear that you have the necessary job qualifications, that you know what their company deals with, that you are willing to learn and basically that you are the perfect fit for the position. You got to have the talent to sell yourself. If you do that you will have high successful rate on interviews.

I have had more than 20 interviews and more than 10 contracts. That makes success rate of 50%. Not bad ;)

I haven't been to many interviews but I haven't stayed withou a job for a long time either. Generally I hate looking for a new job, all this process, recruiters, employers, interviews ... I don't find it exciting.

I'm guessing you are a permanent employee?

Sounds like it :p

I see what he is saying though. Alot of people stay at a job they dont like just because they dont like the process of finding a new job and going through interviews etc.

Looking for job 2 or 3 times a year is stressful and is not for everybody. I like to work on long contracts, but unfortunately this is not always the case. By working on many contracts you gain invaluable professional experience and learn to deal with various problems and people. These are very important skills especially for an IT specialist.

In general the permanent employees like their "job security" and don't like changing jobs every now and then. My father for example worked in the same company for 32 years. You just set your priorities.

Its not always about priorities :)
Some people would love to stay in a job for 32 years but never get the chance as they keep being made redundant from uncaring employers.

Yes, it would be nice if you could choose your contracts and especially the length of them.
Going to find a job every few months is certainly not ideal, but there is little choice if your contracts are only 3 or 4 months long.
