Hi, I have a visa for Canada, but I'm thinking of first landing and staying for 2 weeks, just to get the feel of it. I'm not 100% sure that I want to come and live there. I am a SAP specialist and I have very well paid job. Is it worth it to go through all that trouble? When I applied to come to Canada it was 3 years ago and everything has changed since then. I must say the whole process takes a lot of time and a lot of people change their minds.
Are there any jobs for SAP specialists?

SAP specialists in general are well paid everywhere. I don’t see you having a problem of finding a job here in Canada.
It is frustrating waiting so long for an interview. Your life is not the same it was when you applied for PR especially after 3-4 years of waiting. If you have a stable job and you have started a family it is normal to have doubts now…

Yes, SAP is in demand the world over.
But I would NOT move until you have found a job. Most employers will understand your situation and might give you a month to move over to Canada and start work.

In my opinion it will be more difficult to find a job remotely. If you move and then start looking for job you have a chance to a find it easier and faster. The recruiters won’t hesitate to give you a call and make a phone interview but in order to send your Resume to the employer they need to know that you are available very soon, or in the next few weeks. Usually the recruiters are allowed to send 2-3 Resumes for a job position and they want to send the best Resumes, and you won't be their first choice if you are not here. The personal contact is very important.

In my opinion either you come and stay and find your way in Canada or you don't come at all. It will be a waist of time and money. When you go on a vacation it is always nice and you like it almost everywhere you go. It is different when you know there is no way back, you are more motivated. So if you really want to come to live and work here just do it.

Thank you all for the comments! I appreciate it. I will start to look for a job a month before I land and I hope I'll go on a couple of interviews. I just don't want to miss my chance to come to Canada. As far as I know I can land and return after three years and still keep my status as permanent resident.

SAP is always in demand and you won't have any problems finding job especially if you have a few years of experience. SAP positions are well paid too, and if you work on contract you can expect $50+ per hour easily.

Good luck!

There are good money in SAP and not a lot of specialists. If you have an experience it shouldn’t be a problem to find a job. Summer is usually slow and you may consider coming to Canada September or October.

Contractor is correct, the best seasons for job hunting are spring and fall, although for SAP which is in demand, it wouldn't matter...
