Hi there,

I have a question. I work in a medical office since august 2006 just part time. i gave my boss 2 weeks notice and he said I signed a contract that stated i have to give 6 weeks notice. Is that legal?? Do I have to stay until the 6 weeks are over and what would happen if I would leave now after the 2 weeks. The contract don't stated anything from penalties if I leave earlier than 6 weeks. Please i need advice. I am new to that country and I don't know what to do because I've been told he can held back my last pay check and he didn't pay vacation pay for the last 20 month. So it would be quiet a bit of money that he can held back.

Desperately for advise
Thanks for help Doberman

First read your contract thoroughly even the small print. I've never heard of a six weeks notice before. It sounds ridiculous. But if it’s in your contract there is nothing you can do. Better yet consult a lawyer (www.getlawyer.ca)
