Nova Scotia Field Civil Engineer - OSP - Field Designer

Responsabilities
Design Outside Plant Telecommunication infrastructures and facilities in
accordance with engineering principles, guidelines, policies and safety
standards;
Performs site surveys to collect, analyze and organize basic engineering
data to develop design layouts and prepare all engineering documentation
required for a complete functional design;
Prepares layouts and detail drawings complex assemblies from notes, verbal
instructions and rough or detailed sketches;
Liaison with internal and external customers, developers, municipal
officials and other approving authorities to remove roadblocks and obtain
the necessary approvals of the design drawings;
Ensure schedules and deadlines are monitored and met or adjusted
appropriately.
Prepare accurate documentation to track time, expenses and events for
billing purpose;
May perform necessary calculations and coordinate design criteria with
engineering, manufacturing and any other pertinent department;
Assists in the development of the department procedures and standards.


Education:
Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist with either ASTT or ASET
(Applied Science Technologist & Technician of BC) (Association of Science
and Engineering Technologists AB) or equivalent certification or hold a 2
year Certificate in Telecommunication Technology from a recognized
institute;
College Degree in Engineering Technology or Bachelor Degree in Civil Design.


Knowledge


Adherence to Project Management principles;
OSP design estimating and budget preparation;
Knowledge of Building Industry Consulting Services (BICS) is an asset;
Knowledge of municipal,, civil design policies and procedures, engineering
standards and practices to perform network design;
Knowledge of safety and environmental policies and regulations.
Knowledge of project scheduling, estimating and costing tools;
Computer literacy;
Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License;
Demonstrated professional oral and written communication skills;
Fluent in English;
Abilities in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines.

Must follow safe work practices and abide by all safety rules and
regulations;
Willing to work various shifts to meet client requirements;

Commit to continuous learning and to apply those learned skills in the
related fields;
Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.


Must:


Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist;
College Degree in Engineering Technology or Bachelor Degree in Civil Design;
A minimum of 2 years related experience;
Experience in Outside Plant design and field experience is considered an
asset;
Experience in drafting design tools
