I'm trying to find a job remotely and I was wondering how long and thorough can a telephone interview be? Is it possible the employer to get all the answers to his questions over the phone? What chances I have to find a job remotely anyway?

Phone interview is usually done by companies to sort out the pool of candidates and make a decision regarding an in-person interview. It can be as thorough as it gets and done in multiple sessions taking from 30 to 90 mins. From the standpoint of the employer, it would rather be surprising if you were offered a job upon a phone interview only.

The employers here prefer eye to eye contact. It doesn't mean that you can't start your job search now. You may submit your resume for a position and they can call you a month later...You can start networking now with the recruiters.

Good idea, start looking for job now and start making contacts. During the summer months everything is on a slow motion here.

You don't have much chance to find job remotely, unless your profession is in great demand and there are no local Canadian specialists available.
