Where I should claim EI?

I've worked for a company in Toronto, Ontario for the past 5 years. However, for the last year I have been living in Winnipeg, Manitoba and working remotely for the Toronto-based company.

I was recently laid off by them and I am wondering what province I should claim EI. Furthermore, I plan to move from Winnipeg back to Toronto come May 2009.

Should I register for EI in Ontario or Manitoba? What are the implications, pros/cons?

I don't have an answer for you but since EI benefits are a federal matter I would suggest you contact your closest Service Canada office and ask them. Here's a link to the offices in Manitoba:

I would walk into your local HRDC office in Winnipeg and ask the info desk.
