View Full Version : Leave of Absence on Resume

I have a leave of absence that's a bit complicated and I'm unsure how to explain on my resume.

After graduation I found a part time job in my field. After 4 months I had to stop working because of work permit issues. My employer was very understanding and put me on a leave of absence until I could work again. Fast forward 8 months, I finally have my immigration sorted out and was scheduled back for work, but then a pipe burst in the building (true story, I can't believe my luck!) and everything is in shambles and it looks like I won't be able to return for another 4-6 weeks.
In the mean time, I'm applying for other positions and am unsure what date(s) to put for this job. If I use 2008-current, it seems misleading. If I put 2008, it looks like I terminated that job, while technically I'm still an employee.
I'd appreciate any input, thanks!

I would put 2008-current if you are still an employee. If you do find another job in the mean time you can explain the pipe burst.
