Location: Downtown Toronto
Contract Position - 3 months & renewable for an additional 3.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Data Architect will develop the logical and physical data model based on complex user requirements, business process and use cases as specified by the Business units, develop database scripts, develop technical documentation to support the design, development, testing process, provide updates and estimates, provide support and knowledge transfer among the team members.
> Works with multiple clients to identify critical business/data requirements
> Performs data analysis and data architecture, prepare associated technical documentation based on UML/RUP methodologies
> Collaborates with Business Modeler, Application Architect and senior Database Administrators in designing applications
> Analyses use cases (UML) to identify and develop the optimum and efficient logical and physical data model
> Identifies metadata to be included in the data model in co-ordination with the Information and Data Management group
> Determines how to structure documents/content within the system solution and publication that will be produced by the system.
> Designs complex data models
> Optimizes and performance tunes complex physical data models
> Ensures data management requirements are addressed to be included in the system
> Considers the future integration of the current system into other corporate initiatives such as Enterprise Application Integration
> Responsible for participating in various stages of the project including, project planning, resource estimation, project execution, control, reporting progress to the project manager etc.
> Applies complex business and applications models information structures, database schemas, network and security interfaces as governed by architectural frameworks, technology standards, information policies and legislative requirements
> Preparing technical and user documentation.
> Minimum of 7 years of experience in databases, data modeling/management, systems analysis and design
> Demonstrated experience in architecting complex enterprise information systems
> Demonstrated experience in analyzing and understanding business requirements to efficiently translate them into logical and physical data models
> Demonstrated experience in analyzing unstructured data and converting it into a structure, well-form architecture (XML)
> Experience in identifying meta data
> Experience in designing content and knowledge management solutions
> Experience in writing complex queries, stored procedures etc.
> Proficiency with Oracle 9x and MS Access
> Excellent knowledge of Rational Rose, UML, Erwin, Zachman framework (or equivalent technology)
> Excellent oral and written communications skills
