POSITION OVERVIEW:
This senior position is responsible for ensuring that corporate systems adhere to a consistent and logical structure in terms of data uniqueness, data naming and data storage. And as well, provides consulting services to ensure major business process flows are logical, effective, efficient and documented.

RESPONSIBILITIES
> Develop and recommend strategic data resource management plans, database architecture and corporate database models.
> Prepare and update a comprehensive written database strategy, including standards, design, maintenance, replication, archiving, access and security to support business needs.
> Provide authoritative expertise in data management and in overall data architecture.
> Provide advice on data management techniques/technologies to improve the use of technology.
> Ensure that the acquisition, implementation and maintenance of DBMS and other information management software adheres to the corporate database model.
> Produce appropriate technical documentation for each deliverable.
> Support business units during their application test and certification stage. Interfaces with external vendors and internal units on problem determination and resolutions.
> Participate in walk-through of deliverables to identify potential problems.
> Analyze database requirements and will develop data models.
> Liaise with users, vendors and the Database Administrator on SQL Server/Other Database related issues.
> Maintain the data structures for the corporate data mart/warehouse.
> Ensure that each system is documented in terms of structures, data flows, and interfaces.
> Ensure that business processes are documented using current diagramming techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS
> Minimum of 7 years progressive experience in an IT unit of a medium to large organization.
> Minimum of 5 years experience in successfully communicating with clients in user friendly language.
> Detailed knowledge of information management/engineering methodologies and database analysis, design and technology as well as server, network and telecommunications technologies.
> A good working knowledge of network operating software and hardware technologies.
> Demonstrated awareness of state of the art technology.
> Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
> Good oral and written communication skills and ability to present to management and client groups, to consult with technical and non-technical staff and to prepare reports and proposals
> Detailed knowledge of data modeling techniques.
> Familiarity with UML Case tools and business modeling.
> Exceptional analytical skills to determine the 'real' requirements, diagnose system problems, and provide quick solutions.
> Team player
> Ability to work in a respectful manner with a diverse community of clients, co-workers and external contractors.
> Organizational skills to deliver a project on-time and on-budget with a satisfied client and engaged IT staff.
> Interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, sensitivity and tact.
