Cover letter, too long?

Is the Cover letter really important when applying for a job? I find it really difficult to summarize all my experience and skills. I have a hard time keeping it short. It looks almost like my Resume. Please help.

Believe me it is important. The recruiters/employers first read your cover letter and if they got what they need they'll eventually read your Resume. So no matter how brilliant your resume is your cover letter should be catchy!
