Hi everyone,

I am in a strange situation here. I am an owner of a small multimedia game content development business in Malaysia and I would like to immigrate to Vancouver, Canada in order to expand my business. However, the self-employed business class immigration process takes about 2-3 years.

I would very much like to find a job in Canada first so that I can get a work visa. My predicament is that I am not sure what job fits me as my experience is in running my own company. I do have a degree in Computing Science though. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance! :)

This is a great idea Sherman. You can apply for immigration and look for job at the same time. If you find a job this will speed up your application, so you've got nothing to lose.
Generally it is not very easy to find a job remotely. Most of the recruiting agencies (http://www.jobagencies.ca/index.asp?p=1&sp=1) prefer to work with people who are already in Canada but as I said you've got to try.

Thanks for the reply, Tsveta. Do you have hints on how I can find a job remotely? Suggestions on types of jobs that would be suitable for me are also appreciated.

Thanks! :)

With your degree in Computer Science a job in the IT sector will be a best match. The following are positions in the I.T. field are currently in-demand: http://www.jobforum.ca/showthread.php?t=667

I would suggest creating a profile on the major job banks like monster, workopolis and updating it regularly. Also call recruiters, leave messages, send email and FOLLOW UP. This is very important. When sending emails, with the attached Resume always send a Cover letter.
