Hi All,

A few days ago I interviewed for an IT job - set up partly by a friend

Today I got a tip from the same friend that set the Interview: He said that they liked me, but that The Salary I asked for why far over what they had in mind (During the Interview, they asked me what Would be my expected compenssation and I deliberately gamve them a High number).

In short They are likely to decide not to hire me.

Any Idea on how I can repair this damage? I really want the job.

Jack

First, are you really sure that you want this job? If the salary is considerably lower than you expected do you think it is worth your time?

You can follow up with the person who interviewed you and discuss your compensation.

The problem is: I purposely stated a high compensation. Now, even if I came back and said I'd agree to a lower one, it may not help (the guy'll just think I want the job until I find something better).

True, but if you want the job what other choice do you have? You have to talk to them. This tool, salary calculator (http://jobagencies.ca/index.asp?p=13)will help you get an idea what are the average salaries for different jobs in different cities across Canada.
