bad reference?
I'm kinda paranoid about 2 out 3 of my references.
I'm positive 1 is great, 1 is likely good, 1 is a big maybe (he said he'd give me a positive reference but I'm suspicious). What does an employer think if they get a bad reference that disagrees with the other ones? |
You're better off just giving the references that you know are going to be positive. If you come across well in an interview though then I would think that you should be ok. As an employer I go with a gut feeling and hope that the references back up my choice... I mean, how bad could your reference be - you're probably worrying about it too much.
Good luck with your job hunting! |
Most of the times the interviewer has decided if he/she wants to hire you before he checks the references. They check them just to confirm that you are the person you say you are...

Why would someone agree to give you a reference and then give you a bad reference? Don't be so suspicious. Next time ask people who you know well and call them after the interview to remind them that someone might call them so they can be prepared.
