Is it "wise" to negotiate salary if out of work

Goodday,

Ive read certain interview books that say "always" negotiate salary. Is this a wise approach if youve been out of work & after an interview your offered the job. Shouldnt you err on the safe side & just take the job? summerized:
1.) should you always negotiate salary?
2.) should you negotiate if you been out of work & then offered a job?

Thank you

If you find that the offered salary is the salary you are looking for there is no need to negotiate it. Most of the times, especially if the job goes through recruiter you may want to negotiate. They get a percentage of the yearly salary/hourly rate and they may have room for negotiation.

I don't think a little negotiation will lower your chances to get the job.

This depends on your situation. If you are sure the company wants you then go ahead and ask for higher salary. If you have doubts, or you think that they might not hire you if you ask for more money, then don't do it.
