Relocating to Canada...

Hi, I am thinking of relocating to Canada next spring. I need advice - how to find a place lo live, what is the average rent, what are the good neighbourhoods and so on… Can you help me please?

Welcome Futurepop :D

Right now is a good time to rent. because of the high vacancy rate the prices are lower than the beginning of last year. When you come here check out the Renters news magazine. It’s free and you can find it everywhere in the city, near the bus stops and in the grocery stores. An average price for 1 bedroom apt. is around $800 per month but note that you need to pay a deposit for your first and last month. So you need roughly $1600 for your rent. Most of the apartment buildings want you to fill in an application form and need to know where you work, what is your salary and a referral they can call. However some rental managements don’t require this information.

Thank you for the useful information! I have another question.
Are you talking about particular Canadian city, or just in general?

I'm sorry I forgot to mention that I was talking about Toronto. :)
Keep in mind that Toronto is one of the most expensive cities in Canada, but at the same time has one of the best jobmarkets.

I agree that Toronto has the most job opportunities in Canada. I have a friend who went to Vancouver, and he hasn't been able to find a job as a software programmer for 5 months now!
