Have you ever thought about going through BUNACs Work Canada scheme? There are programmes for students and non-students up to 35 years old, where you are issued with an Open Authorisation Visa (working visa), which will allow you to work in Canada for up to 12 months.

They may have used up their quota for this year, but if you can still apply for this year, you don't have to state what job or address you will have in Canada, as most people obtain work when they get there. You can also put in a projected date of arrival without being too specific/accurate.

I am going on the non-student programme and once I have had my visa issued, I hope to go out to Vancouver and Toronto and meet people in person, after I have sent out job applications, resumes etc stating I am coming over and have an visa enabling me to work for 12 months. After that, you will need to come back to the UK and apply for a work permit.
