Getting into the Construction trade without a car or license?
Hi, I have a question about getting into this trade. My friend works as a foremen in carpentry. A while ago he mentioned that he could probably get me into his union. Problem is getting to the sites. I would have no problems taking the bus but some don't run until after 7 and some sites probably want you there earlier.
So I guess I'm wondering if I'm screwed and wont be able to do this. Are there anyone here that is in construction without a car or license? Do you all just have people that pick you up?
Also he said they require a high school diploma. Would a degree at a college be acceptable or does it absolutely have to be a high school or ged?
You have more qualification than what they require, its always fine when you have a car, You need to find ways for the transport if you cannot buy a car buy a two wheeler or purchase a second hand car , it always gets you a good name if you are there before 7.
