Well it depends where you plan to settle. If plan to live in Quebec or New Brunswick it’s good to know French. In the other provinces it will be an asset but not necessity.
I see, I'm planning to settle in Montreal. I have a degree in Arts and want to be a teacher in Art school. My French is not excellent but moderate. Do I have to be bilingual to work as a teacher in Ontario for example?
For sure you have to be proficient in one of the languages. If you want to become a teacher in Ontario you have to pass TOEFL. I guess for Quebec you have to pass similar test in French.
