Default Employment advice.

To whom it may concern:

Firstly I would like to thank you for reading my post.

I am a professional 26 year old British male who currently works as an IT operations manager for a London based IT firm. I have been granted a one year working visa which I intend on converting to a Conjugal partner visa upon my arrival in Canada, I am able to do this due to my girlfriend being Canadian.

I have over four years experience in the industry and have a bachelors degree.

I have the following questions:

1) Am I likely to find work relatively quickly?
2) Will I be paid less due to my immigrant status?
3) Is Toronto a good place to start? (This is our first choice as her family living in the GTA)

Thanking you in advance.

Kind regards,

Alfie Arrowsmith

Hi Alfie,

Toronto is a good place to look for a job in the IT industry. I don't think you will be paid less because you are a recent immigrant. The lack of "Canadian experience" may be a reason for some recruiters to try to lowball you, so be aware of it. Try to contact recruiting agencies - most of the IT jobs go through them. because you are coming from England I have to warn you not to expect many, if any returned calls and emails. For some reason here recruiters think that a common courtesy of returning phone call is not necessary unless they can profit from you.

Good luck!
