I interviewed with a company last week (2 1/2 hour interview) - they called back last Monday and asked for 3 references, including one from my last Manager. I supplied the references, but here it is, a week later, and none of the references have been called.
Can anyone say what has happened? Why would they call for references and not use them?
Sometimes when they want references and you can give them names and numbers this is good enough. They want to know that you have references but they rarely call them. I would suggest to call the company again to let them know that you are still interested in the position and to check if they have made any decision.
Thanks for the advice - I called the employer, and they said I was still very much under consideration for this job. After my call, they started calling references, and said they checked out fine. Then, they scheduled another interview with the hiring manager - now I have to wait for a decision which they will tell me early next week.
