Default Controller for Automotive dealership WANTED!

A large, successful, well established GTA domestic dealership is looking for an experienced Controller.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you are a personable team-player with the ability to perform in a fast paced environment. You must have great communication and management skills with the ability to take a positive approach to problem solving and decision making. The role requires 5 or more years of progressive accounting and reporting experience combined with solid GAAP and consolidations experience. The ideal candidate will have, or be working toward, an accounting designation (CA, CGA, or CMA). A CMA is preferred.

Summary of Primary Responsibilities

You will control and manage dealership activities, such as the cash flow, expense management, the preparation of the budget, auditing of the books of accounts, purchases, fixed assets and insurance. And also:

• Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions.
• Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments.
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
• Oversee daily operations of the finance department.
• Manage the preparation of the official annual report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses.
• Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
• Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
• Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.
• Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
• Work with general manager and department heads to prepare financial forecasts and budgets for all departments.
• Regularly analyze financial reports and the daily control of operations, and notifies the dealer of developing trends.
• Analyze the ledger and the accounts recorded. Notes any unusual entries and verifies them.
• Review the reconciliation of accounts in the general ledger with external resources, in order to ensure that the bank reconciliation, the reserve accounts, the accounts payable to the manufacturer and inventory are accurate.
• Constantly endeavor to improve the accuracy of information and the methods by which it circulates within the dealership.
• Take part in management meetings, providing document required for such meetings to proceed smoothly. Provide explanation to any lines in question.
• Responsible for the supervision and training of accounting staff.
