Default Jobs for electricians

Hi, I'm a qualified australian electrician with a queensland fitter/mechanic licence. I'm looking to travel to canada next yr to work and travel and wondering if i can work on my licence? Do i have to do a three month course? If i cant work as a sparky on my Australian licence can i work as a Trades assistant? Look forward to hearing from you.

In Ontario, no you can't work with your license. You will need to have a valid Ontario electrical license. The alternative is to be a registered Apprentice but apprenticeships are hard to come by these days and you probably won't like the pay of an Apprentice. You can challenge the C of Q (Certificate of Qualification) exam if you have the necessary credentials. You'll need to contact the Ministry of Education and Training to find out if you qualify to challenge it.

I'm not sure how it works in other provinces but I would guess it is similar.
